“Where others see the crack, we grow into it.“
edha - a grassroots initiative for digital health literacy.“
Understanding digital health
Digitalization is changing our healthcare system.
- It brings new tools, concepts, opportunities and many question marks.
- It often remains unclear: What does this really do for me? What does it mean for my life, for my care?
edha gives you orientation - and lets knowledge grow.
- We explain the world of digital health at your own pace:
- What is a digital health tool - and how does it benefit you?
- How does the electronic patient file work?
- What can artificial intelligence do - and where are its limits?
- How do you protect your health data?
- What does ethics mean in digital healthcare?
edha makes complex things understandable. So that you can make safer decisions - for yourself, for others and for your health.

About edha
We are a grassroots initiative - not a top-down organization.
We start where our target groups are and get to the root of the matter.
edha does not see itself as a patient organization, we are a growing project - initiated by people with illnesses and lived experience with the desire to make a difference.
We listen. We see where something is missing and sow with knowledge ...
And sometimes we can hear the grass grow!
We believe that digital health literacy is the key to being able to navigate the healthcare system safely and independently.
Who is behind it?
edha was founded in 2022 as a non-profit organization by Birgit Bauer.
Birgit is a communications expert and digital health expert. She is also a Patient Expert and has been living with MS (multiple sclerosis) for over 20 years.
In 2022, Birgit also established the “Data Saves Lives Germany” project and is working successfully with the community, which we also welcome to edha.
I know what good digital solutions can do for people with illnesses, but to achieve this, people with illnesses need to be informed and involved.Right from the start. This is the only way to truly fulfill people's needs and wishes

Why are we doing this?
- Because we believe that good information can change lives.
- Because no one should get lost in the jungle of digital terms and tools.
- Because health is a human right, as is knowledge - and orientation is part of it.
- Because developing knowledge together creates community and community creates growth. Like grass, from the bottom up!
